What is the language on board?
The Scylla AG crews are multilingual. Depending on the tour operator who has chartered the ship for the particular cruise, the language on board is German or English. If you are interested in a cruise, we will be pleased to inform you about the charter company and the language on board.
What is the currency on board?
Depending on the tour operator who has chartered the ship for the particular cruise, the currency on board is the Euro or Swiss franc. We will inform you when you book your journey who the organiser is and which currency will be valid on board during your cruise. There are only very limited on-board facilities for changing money.
What are the means of payment on board?
In addition to the valid on-board currency, the commonly accepted credit cards (Visa/Eurocard/Mastercard) are also accepted on the ship. These can be used to pay for the excursions booked on-board, the drinks and any purchases made in the board boutique.
How can I book on-shore excursions?
Normally, on-shore excursions can be booked and paid for directly on board. If they can be booked in advance or are included in the travel price, we will inform you about this when you book.
Are all meals on board included?
Full board on ship is included in all journeys. This includes a substantial breakfast buffet, a consommé, a four-course lunch with a choice of main course and coffee/tea, tea in the afternoon as well as a four-course dinner with a choice of main course and coffee/tea. In addition, each cruise includes the welcome cocktail, the captain's cocktail and the festive captain's dinner. The drinks consumed on board are charged separately.
Can I order special diets?
Please inform your travel agent or Scylla AG directly of any special diet requirements when you make your booking. Vegetarian meals or a diet for diabetics are no problem, but we will also do our best to meet other, more special diet requests.
What clothes do I need on board?
We recommend you take comfortable casual clothes. The atmosphere on board is relaxed, ladies are only expected to wear a dress, and gentlemen a suit, for the special captain's dinner. Since it can be windy on the sun deck even in good weather, we recommend a warm jacket. Sports clothing may be useful for keep-fit exercises in the morning, and you should not forget your swimming costume on the ships with an indoor swimming pool or whirl pool.
What equipment is in the cabins?
The cabins meet the highest standards and have adjacent beds, a radio, colour television, minibar, safe, hair dryer, adjustable air conditioning as well as a separate shower with WC.
Can I book a partial route, e.g. 2 days?
Unfortunately not. Our cruises are complete packages which normally take a week or longer. However, we also occasionally have special short trips. We do not offer the Basel-Strasbourg route, for which we sometimes receive inquiries, separately, because the landscape is not very varied.
Are the ships suitable for disabled passengers?
Some of our ships have special facilities for disabled passengers. Several ships has stair lifts or elevators to the restaurant and to the sun deck.
Are there cots and chairs for children on board?
Cots and high chairs can be provided if you inquire in good time.
Are animals permitted on board?
No animals are permitted on board of Scylla AG ships.
Where can I book trips with Scylla AG ships?
You can book through your travel agent or directly through your charterer. Since we charter out our ships, most of the journeys with Scylla AG ships are organised by major tour operators from Germany, the USA and Switzerland. Where can I book the journey there and back?
Your travel agent or your charterer will be pleased to arrange train and airline tickets for the journey there and back.
Are the Scylla AG ships suitable for seminars and events?
The Scylla AG ships are perfectly suited for seminars, product presentations, incentive trips, exhibitions and pre-/post conference trips. They can also be chartered as stationary hotel ships for several days. Please contact our sales department, E-mail: info [at] scylla.ch
